Entry Requirement for Sri Lankans Lifted

Under the directive of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Foreign Ministry reviewed the entry procedure today, 06 April 2021, as a measure of relief for prospective Lankan returnees.

Under the new procedure, Sri Lankans, dual citizens who travel on Sri Lankan passports, spouses and unmarried children of Sri Lankans, who are foreigners, and Sri Lankan seafarers arriving by air will be permitted to enter into Sri Lanka without prior approval of the Foreign Ministry and the Civil Aviation Authority. Commonwealth Team wins Anton Muttukumaru Trophy  2021

The annual cricket match for  Major General Anton Muttukumaru Trophy between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the High Commissions of Commonwealth countries based in Canberra teams was played at the Forestry Oval, Yarralumla on 20th March 2021.

The Commonwealth team comprising players from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, South Africa and the United Kingdom won the trophy. DFAT won the toss and sent the Commonwealth team to bat . Read More »

High Commission of Sri Lanka in Canberra celebrates the 73 rd Anniversary of Independence Day of Sri Lanka

The 73rd anniversary of Sri Lanka’s National Independence was celebrated in the Sri Lanka High Commission premises in Canberra, with a formal flag hoisting ceremony in the early morning of 4th February 2021.

The event was held outdoors following the COVID-19 health regulations applicable to outdoor events. Around 150 participants representing a wide cross section of the Sri Lankan community attended this ceremony. Read More »
