Celebration of Vesak at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Australia

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Canberra, Australia celebrated the Vesak Festival at the High Commission premises from 02nd to 4th May 2015.
The High Commission staff organised an almsgiving to the venerable Maha Sangha of the Sri Lanka Buddhist temple in Kambha, Canberra. Chief incumbent of the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Kambha, Ven. Moragollagama Rahula Thero and Ven. Weragoda Sujatha Thero participated at the ceremony and offered Buddha Pooja. After the observance of Pansil by Ven. Moragollagama Rahula Thero, Ven. Weragoda Sujatha Thero conducted the Dhamma sermon.
The High Commission premises was decorated in a colourful manner with a large number of Buddhist flags, vesak lanterns, illuminations and decorations in keeping with the traditions of the festival.
Australian and Sri Lankan viewers were treated with a Dansala of chickpeas, biscuits, cakes, sandwiches, tea and coffee. Pamphlets were distributed to the foreigners regarding the importance of Vesak and the Acting High Commissioner Mr. P.Selvaraj also explained to the foreigners regarding the significance of Vesak in Sri Lanka.
